Desktop Kitchen POS
Last updated: March 8, 2026
Overview
Desktop Kitchen POS is a business-to-business (B2B) restaurant point-of-sale application for tablets. The app connects to your organization's self-hosted or cloud-hosted Desktop Kitchen server to process orders, manage inventory, and run kitchen operations.
Data Collection and Storage
What the app stores on your device
- Server connection settings: The URL of your POS server, tenant identifier, and authentication credentials are stored locally in the app's preferences so you don't have to re-enter them each time you open the app.
- Offline order queue: When the device loses internet connectivity, the app temporarily stores pending orders in a local database on the device. These orders are automatically synced to your server when connectivity is restored and then removed from the device.
- Menu cache: The app may cache menu data locally so it remains available during brief network interruptions.
No customer personal information, payment card details, or financial data is stored on the device.
What the app sends to your server
All operational data — orders, payments, inventory changes, employee activity — is sent directly to your organization's Desktop Kitchen server. This data is governed by your organization's own data policies and your server administrator's configuration.
What the app does NOT do
- No third-party analytics or tracking SDKs are included in the app.
- No advertising identifiers are collected or used.
- No data is shared with third parties by the app itself.
- No cookies or web tracking — the app uses native API calls only.
- No background data collection — the app only communicates with your server while actively in use.
Third-Party Services
The app itself contains no third-party SDKs, analytics frameworks, or advertising libraries. All third-party integrations (such as payment processing via Stripe, SMS via Twilio, or AI suggestions) are handled server-side by the Desktop Kitchen platform and are subject to your server administrator's configuration.
Data Security
- All communication between the app and your server uses HTTPS (TLS encryption) by default.
- Employee authentication uses PIN-based login managed by your server.
- No sensitive data is cached on the device.
Children's Privacy
Desktop Kitchen POS is a business application intended for use by restaurant staff and is not directed at children under the age of 13.
Your Rights
Since the app itself stores only your server connection settings on the device, you can clear all local data by deleting and reinstalling the app. For any data stored on your organization's Desktop Kitchen server, please contact your server administrator.
